The leading cause of cancer deaths in lung cancer worldwide. The second most common cancer in the U.S is the lungs cancer.. Most lung cancers do not cause any symptoms until they have spread but some people with early lung cancer do have some symptoms. If cancer might be diagnosed at an early stage then the treatment is more likely to be effective.
Early sign of lungs cancer:
These symptoms can overlap with other conditions and many of them are very common and mild. Some symptoms that should check are:
- Sound of cough
- Wheezing sound
- Change in voice
- Unexplained weight loss
- Bone pain
- Loss of appetite
- Facial swelling
- Feeling tired or weak
The first thing is cough especially if a person is a smoker. If the cough is due to some infection of the common cold then it will go away within a week or so. But if the cough is persistent for a long time like more than 8 weeks. then it will be the possibility of lung cancer.
2. Sound of cough:
If the sound of cough is deeper or sounds hoax or coughing an unusual amount of mucus then it's time to visit a doctor. Check the blood in the cough even if it's just a small amount of blood so coughing up blood or bloody mucus could be an indication of having lung cancer. The tumor is the lungs can block the airway of the body. This blockage causes frequent infections such as bronchitis and pneumonia. So if someone has a repeated respiratory infection then check it with the doctor because it could be a warning sign of lung cancer.
3. Wheezing sound:
Not all wheezing sounds and shortness of breath during climbing stairs are due to asthma or allergies. Moreover, changes in breathing can occur if lung cancer blocks or narrows an airway or if fluid from the lung tumor builds up in the chest. When airways become constricted, blocked, or inflamed the lungs may produce a wheezing or whistling sound during breathing. This condition has multiple causes. In some cases, a benign tumor is a reason but it is easily treatable. However, wheezing is also a symptom of lung cancer so always consult the doctor if someone finds any recent changes.
4. Change in voice:
If someone feels a significant change in his voice then visit a doctor. A simple cold can cause hoarseness. But when these symptoms persist then it may point to something more serious. Lung cancer-related hoarseness can occur when the tumor affects the nerve that controls the voice box or larynx.
5. Unexplained weight loss:
When cancer is present this drop in weight. It may result from excess use of energy by cancer cells because if a person loses more than 10 pounds within a short period and there is no significant cause for that then immediately consults a doctor. Lung cancer may produce pain in the shoulder, back, or chest especially when breathing. It can also cause pain during deep coughing or laughing. When chest pain is due to lung cancer then this discomfort may result from metastasis or enlarged lymph nodes of the chest wall. So the protective lining around the lungs is called pleura or the ribs.
6. Bone pain:
The lung cancer that has spread to bones may produce pain in the back or other areas of the body. Bone pain due to lung cancer is often worse at night. It also increases with the movement of the body.
People who smoke have the greatest risk of lung cancer. But in many cases the lung cancer affects those people who have never smoked. The risk of lung cancer increases with the length of time and the number of cigarettes that someone has smoked. if someone quit smoking even after smoking for many years then he can significantly reduce his chances of developing lung cancer.
