Asthenia is a medical term that describes a general feeling of weakness, fatigue, or lack of energy. It is not a specific medical condition but rather a symptom that can be caused by a variety of underlying factors. Someone feels asthenia in a specific part of his body or may he have it in full body.

Causes of Asthenia:

It is cause by a lot of things but generally, medical conditions are very common. So the cause of asthenia has some examples that includes:

  • Anemia
  • Thyroid disorders
  • Chronic fatigue

  • Cancer treatment
  • Heart attack, stroke, or severe bleeding
  • Different types of infections

1. Anemia:

Anemia occurs when there is a deficiency of red blood cells which can result in feeling fatigued and weak.

2. Thyroid disorders:

Hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism are conditions where the thyroid gland is not producing enough or producing too much thyroid hormone. Both conditions can also cause fatigue and other symptoms.

In the case of emergency conditions, asthenia may be accompanied by life-threatening symptoms like severe chest pain, difficulty breathing, confusion, and seizures.
